It can be done but is risky and very time consuming. Think hard about if you really need to migrate your existing data to your new indexer.This intermediate tier would then funnel data back to your new cluster and keep it nice and clean. Use the Splunk HF or Cribl as the intermediate tier so you have your dest close to the source and you can closely manage the data. Since it sounds like you have a very distributed deployment put in an intermediate tier where you now have your indexers so your source data does not have to home run back to your new cluster.Figure out how much hardware you need and then buy more.I am sure your architect will provide the right advice but having been through this more than once consider a few points. Ok then you need a complete do over which will be complex to build out involving migrating your search heads and indexers to new HA clusters.

I give this advice since I personally had awful experiences with professional service while setting up my ES instance and ITSI and havenРІР‚в„ўt ever chosen to engage with them again. Splunk data is pretty simply stored in buckets on the file system and donРІР‚в„ўt require anything very crazy to back them up. If by РІР‚СљsendРІР‚Сњ you mean view it from the search head at the single place, but still store it all over the world (seems like it might be the case since you mention not already having indexer clusters) you should be able to snapshot whatever youРІР‚в„ўre storing your data on in those locations. You could also (not recommended) use some kind of mass storage with off-site backups taken and have the buckets of data stored there, though your search performance will suffer. If by РІР‚СљsendРІР‚Сњ you mean for long term storage, which I assume you do since mentioning converting to heavy forwarders instead, you could easily set up a new indexer cluster at that single place for built in redundancy since new indexer(s) will be necessary (heavy forwarders donРІР‚в„ўt store data). From your post it seems like youРІР‚в„ўre wanting to take your current indexing infrastructure which exists all across the world, and send the data back to a single place. To the OP, if you want some advice from us here you might need to clarify a little bit.

ES does work in search head clusters actually! ItРІР‚в„ўs just a premium app that heavily utilizes the KVStore sitting on top of enterprise.
